This was the situation when we were called to the lot of this new home in 2002. The contractor preserved what trees they could and cut a convenient drive on the left side of the lot to access the garage entry and to work around the house.
To best show the new home, we removed a couple of trees and swept the driveway past the front door. This allowed for great curb appeal and a glimpse of the home without sacrificing privacy. The rooms on the front of the home are generally ‘semi public’ rooms, like the foyer, formal dining and living room. This also allowed for easy access to the ceremonial entry, the one used for special occasions. This site planning was much more important to the look of the home than the lower plantings.
