It’s Friday the 13th and none of us want to have bad luck. Often times it's good planning and maintenance that keep us from misfortune. Do not take things for granted - especially your trees.
This ice storm in March 2008 did a lot of damage to trees that had weak wood in them. Trees that had maintenance pruning had little or no damage. Maintenance pruning removes dead, crossovers, wounded and weak branch angles.
Pruning mature trees helps to maintain the natural structure allowing light to all the leaves for photosynthesis and air circulation to prevent disease.
