Family business is an interesting venture. I grew up in the family business. My uncles, cousins and friends have worked here. As our business grew I asked my wife, Kathy, to come and help me in the business. There was some trepidation. Her mom told her never to get involved in your husband's business. (Traditional thinking) My dad told me to ‘never let the wives stick their nose into your business’ (More traditional thinking). But I sensed otherwise. Kathy set aside her dietetic private practice to work in the business and start LEAF, the Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier. The success was better than anticipated. From 1998-2008 our business doubled in sales. LEAF grew into a regional asset. We got to spend a lot more time together.
Once again, follow your heart…
and, Kathleen, thank you for 32 wonderful years of Marriage today. Happy Anniversary.
